Troubleshooting

Fix notebooks that don't show up on your reMarkable, pairing codes that are rejected, failed sends, missing characters or images, and handwriting font errors.

Start with History: it shows every send with its status, so you can tell whether a problem happened on our side or between the reMarkable cloud and your tablet.

The notebook doesn't show up on my tablet

  • Check History. If the send shows as completed, Remarkify has uploaded it to your reMarkable cloud account and the tablet only needs to sync.
  • Wake the tablet and connect it to Wi-Fi. It picks up new documents when it syncs; that can take a moment after it comes online.
  • Look at the top level of your library, not inside a folder, and check the name: it follows your Notebook name setting in Preferences.
  • Check the tablet is signed in to the same reMarkable account you used to get the pairing code.

Pairing doesn't work, or stopped working

  • The one-time code is exactly eight lowercase letters and is only valid for a short time. If it's rejected, reload my.remarkable.com/device/desktop/connect and use the new code straight away.
  • Connecting can take up to 30 seconds. Keep the page open until it finishes.
  • If sends start failing with No device paired, or you removed Remarkify from your reMarkable account, connect again from Account with a fresh code.

A send failed

Open the entry in History. If the content is still available, you can resend it from there. If the same page keeps failing, try sending a smaller part of it, or turn off Include images to rule out a problem photo, and let us know which page it was.

Some characters are missing

Remarkify writes Latin-script text, including accented letters used in Western and Northern Europe and Turkish. Characters it has no handwriting for, such as emoji, Cyrillic, Greek or Chinese, are left out. If you use your own handwriting, characters you skipped on the sheet fall back to the built-in font.

Long articles

A long article counts as one send, however many pages it fills. Keep Automatic Pagination on in Preferences so text flows onto new pages with proper page breaks. Very long pages take longer to convert; if you only need part of an article, select just that part.

Images are missing

  • Check that Include images is on in Preferences.
  • Make sure the photos were inside your selection. On some sites images only load as you scroll: scroll past them before selecting.
  • A photo that can't be drawn is left out so the rest of the note still arrives. See Images for which styles suit which photos.

Building my handwriting font fails

  • The tablet hasn't synced the sheet yet. Sync, wait a moment, then tap Try again.
  • You filled in an older sheet. If you sent more than one, Remarkify reads the most recent one. Its name is shown in step 1 of the handwriting panel.
  • Letters cross into the next box. Keep each character inside its own box. The message under step 3 lists what went wrong.

The extension or share sheet says I'm signed out

In Chrome, click the Remarkify icon and sign in again. On iPhone, open the Remarkify app once; the share sheet uses the app's session.

Still stuck?

Email support@remarkify.app with the page you tried to send, the time, and whether you used Chrome, the iPhone app or the editor. Screenshots of what arrived on the tablet help a lot.
